Gil Boudreau was born in the woods of Middle-River, northern New-Brunswick, Canada in 1984. During his first years, the family lived above a wood workshop, so woodworking immediately became normality, and Gil began picking up the family skill soon after his 3rd birthday. Upon graduation, he moved to the city of Moncton, where he studied music and history at university, but always kept in touch with his roots, keeping a piece of wood nearby to fight homesickness. Gil began making pipes in 2010, after a suggestion from his father, who saw a potential for small carved objects, but the lack of tools in the city restrained him to small decorative pieces. His first properly finished tobacco pipe happened in early 2015, brought to life in his humble shop-like desk in his living room, carved by chisel and files. There is now a profound love for this art form, and a desire to explore this skill much further.
