Like most of his work, the Dragon is absolutely well-designed and masterfully formed. Intensive works of Sandblast is obvious all over the blade, which starts from Foot of the pipe and follows to the Shank. Moreover, the way of his sandblast on the pipe is some how stunning as he engineered the sandblast parallel lines one by one with perfect care. Harmoy of the form and color is another point of this beautiful item.
Each Teipen (pronounced typin) Handmade Briar Pipe is hand crafted by Wayne Teipen, in the small town of Cloverdale, Indiana. His work hours afford him a lot of free time for his hobbies and part time endeavors. He took up pipe smoking and collecting in 2006. In 2008, he decided to try to fashion his own pipe out of a predrilled block from PIMO mostly out of curiosity and the inner desire to create. The only tools he had at the time was a Dremel, a couple files and rasps, and some sandpaper. To his surprise and delight, his first pipe actually resembled something smokeable. Despite his limited knowledge and tooling at the time, he fell in love with the process and found an outlet for his creative side.
Like most things he commit himself to, he immersed himself in researching anything he could find related to pipemaking and absorbed it like a sponge. With the information gleened from the internet he began upgrading his tools and taught himself the skills necessary to make quality handmade pipes. He currently makes around 30 to 40 pipes per year, focusing on quality rather than quantity.
