PAIR OF SMOOTH-ENGRAVED HORN SMOKING PIPE WITH TAMPER, PIPE STAND AND HANDMADE BOX
This jewelry work of art is a collaboration of two great Russian-Indian carvers: Kotlyar and Ambani. At first glance, this charming creation of art fascinates the eyes with the untidily, stunning finish, absolute harmony in color and shapes. It is composed of two Horn sister smoking pipes, pipe stand, tamper and handmade box.
The first sister Horn exhibits beautiful light color with tight-lines of briar on the both sides and almost unbelievable bird-eyes pattern on the foot and top of the Shank and has a nice olive wood ring in the mouthpiece. The complementary sister offers darker brown finish with stunning engraving on the pipe foot and Warlus Tusk ring in the mouthpiece. Both sisters are perfectly engineered to express the exact shapes, sizes and structures. However, interestingly, each item has some extra editions to make it unique and different for the other. Well-designed structure, masterful way of carving, absolute and intense works of engraving are just some elements that are obvious with the first glance into this creation.
Pipe stand by itself is a pure art. It has two separate standpoints with the complementary color and material for the sister pipes, and a ring stands for the tamper. Both pipes lay easily on the stand and the tamper goes inside the ring and stand between the horns. Tamper is made of briar and has two copper rings. Interestingly, the top of the tamper exhibits the head of the Cobra which echoes the shape of the sister pipes.
Handmade box is made of Walnut wood. The box is decorated with copper inlay, which also exists in the tamper, and while Indian silk. When the pipe kit locate on the top of the handmade box, absolute harmony of the colors and shapes from both pipes and box come together to express the VIP pipe.
About the Artist
Peter Kotlyar was born (1973) and raised in Vladivostok city, Russia. The passion of carving the pipe was in his soul and soon he was completely fascinated by the variety of the shapes and systems. When he bough his first pipe and smoke it he was just thinking he could carve a pipe for himself and by his hands. The fist work was not perfect but very promising for him. Soon he carves more and more until the time that he became a master. He mostly learned from his mistakes and now his pipe are placed all around the world. " I am making pipes for my soul and not for the commerce" he said. He is carving his pipes with the briar from Spain and Sardinia, for the mouthpieces he uses the German ebonite and cumberland. He mostly inserts some antique materials in his smoking pipes and in this case he has his own unique way and technique to express his feeling during carving.
